Sundre Race & Rodeo Association is very pleased to introduce you to the

2019 Miss Rodeo Sundre, Mackenzie Skeels.

Miss Rodeo Sundre

Mackenzie Skeels

Hello everyone my name is Mackenzie Skeels and I am the 2019 Miss Rodeo Sundre. I am a fourth generation farmer that grew up on ranch just outside of Rimbey called Anchor D Simmental’s with my family, where I have over 25 cows of my own.  I have been heavily involved in 4-H for 12 years and was selected to attend the 2018 Canadian Citizenship Congress through this incredible program. In addition I have been involved with the Young Canadian Simmental Association (YCSA) on a provincial and national level.  Through the YCSA program I have won four national aggregate titles across Canada and completed in the American Junior Simmental shows in 2016 and 2018 as a Canadian representative.

By recently finalizing my Media Studies and Professional Communications Diploma, I am excited to use my skills that I have developed to further my passion of becoming a spokesperson for agriculture and the western way of life. By educating people on where their food comes from.

I have always been a super fan of Rodeo! I am excited to have the opportunity to be Miss Rodeo Sundre and becoming a part of this beautiful community. They have welcomed me with open arms and it has been the most incredible year representing the town, rodeo and many sponsors.

My name is Jayden Calvert and I am beyond excited to be Miss Rodeo Sundre!

I am a first-generation beef cattle producer and all-round horse woman from Drayton Valley, Alberta. However, Sundre was my first home. I have a strong appreciation for western heritage and a passion for agriculture. I am 19 years old and attending the University of Alberta to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. I am currently enjoying my first year of the program as an Animal Science major.

I have been a 4-H member in the Drayton Valley district for the past 11 years in both the horse and beef projects. I am a proud second year 4-H Alberta Ambassador for the Northwest Region. In addition to 4-H, I have ridden in Pony Club, the Calgary Western Riders Gymkhana Club, Junior Rodeo and High School Rodeo.

I currently show appaloosa horses in a variety of disciplines and have competed on the Alberta Appaloosa Youth Team for 4 years. I also enjoy exhibiting purebred and Speckle Park influenced cattle around the province.

Nothing makes me happier than representing our western heritage, the sport of rodeo, and the beautiful town of Sundre (my first home) as Miss Rodeo Sundre 2018!

Miss Rodeo Sundre

Alisa Brace

Hello Everyone!  I am Alisa Brace. I am 20 years old and currently I am in my first year of pursuing my Animal Health Technology diploma at Lakeland College. I am proud to call Sundre home and grew up just east of town on a small Gelbvieh cow calf operation where I spent my entire childhood surrounded by horses and cows.

I have always had a passion for rodeo which is what led me in the direction of running for a rodeo queen title in the hopes of educating people on the sport as well as being a role model to young girls. In my spare time I enjoy participating on the Sundre Go Wild Go West Drill Team, taking part in working cow horse, cutting, and ranch roping, as well as riding outside on trails that are on my home property.

I would like to give a huge thank you to the Sundre & District Ag Society for sponsoring me for this competition.
